South Padre Island Weather & When to Go
Situate at the eastern tip of Cameron County in Rio Grand valley of Texas, South Padre island is one of the premier coastal destinations in the world. Even in the dead of winter the temperature rarely drops below 75F and can be suitable for playing on the beach. The summers can be very hot, with temperatures topping 100F. However, there is always a warm breeze blowing which helps to keep the things cool.
This island is a popular spring break destination. In fact, during the months of March the island is so packed that it is even hard to get over the bridge to visit it. The height of the spring break is typically the third of March, when most Texas schools have their spring break. During rest of the year, things are quiet and the island can be a great place to visit and relax and that too at a fraction of the cost of other beach resort areas such as California or Florida. In fact, it is a good place for those who want solitude and rest.
South Padre island is a home to many water sport activities. These include deep-sea fishing, parasailing, bay fishing, wind surfing and sailing.
