South Padre Island Sports & Activities
South Padre island is famous for its’ sub-tropical climate, warm gulf water, exciting nightlife, and of course, a wide range of adventure and recreational activities. Situated at the southernmost rip of United States, it boasts of warm and sunny weather all year round. South Padre island offers something to every visitor, whether young or old.
South Padre island is quite well known for its’ adventure and recreational activities. The activities here are numerous and can be inexpensive if you know how to enjoy it. Beach related activities are almost free, except for the State Park entrance fee when you enter Isa Blanca Park and Andy Bowie Park. If you are here with your family, then there are a number of beach activities that you can enjoy. You can build sand castles, collect seashells, and chase crabs and body surf. Bring an ice chest and sandwich fixin’s and you can feed an army under ten bucks. Bring towels and your own umbrella and you can have a free day of total relaxation in the beach.
The banana boat rides may cost you, but as such its fun and the price is around 10 bucks. Frisbees are free and most people hang around the beach, just playing them. A dolphin watch trip is only 10 dollars if you rake it out of the Sea Ranch Marina and coupons can be found in almost all local newspapers in all convenient stores. Fishing trips will run you $250 to $350 out of any place and there are over 100 bay fishing guides who can help you. Parasailing and wave runners are costly, but they are worth the expense. You can even enjoy Horseback riding on the north end of the island.
For those people, who have an interest in fishing, you have entered a fisherman’s paradise. South Padre island offers you deep-sea fishing and bay fishing with an assortment of 500 different species of fishes to go after. For those who want to try something new, they can go for canyon deep sea fishing. This lets you go over 40-50 miles away from the coast for the really big fish. You can even go scuba diving to explore shipwrecks at Devils Elbow or visit the museums.
If you are interested in nature, then it would be good to know that South Padre has a very unique habitat of rich wildlife. There are number of places to visit such as the Dolphin research and Sea Life Nature Center and the Laguna Madre Nature trail. Each of these places will give you an opportunity to see exotic wildlife in a unique habitat.
South Padre offers so many activities and adventure sports, that you will be forced to come to this place year after year. So, if you like nature and are fond of adventure sports, then South Padre is the best place to be in.
